On September 26, Abbey Building submitted a planning application to Dublin City Council to construct an 80 bed nursing home at 18 Fairview Avenue Lower & Fairview Terrace. The application states:
The development will consist of the clearing of the existing site including demolition of 2no. existing sheds and remains of original house and the construction an 80 bed private nursing home. Comprising lower ground floor treatment/day rooms, cafe, dining, mortuary, laundry kitchen and ancillary plant and stores, 8no. underground car parking and 30no. cycle parking spaces. Ground floor reception, admin and visitor rooms, 18 bed high dependency accommodation including residents rooms, dining, 12no. twin rooms, 6no. single rooms. First and second floors consisting each of 31 beds per floor arranged in 2no. twin room, 27no. single rooms, visitor room and ancillary accommodation roof residents lounge, roof terraces and roof mounted solar panels to third floor.
Building comprising total 80no. bed spaces, 60no. single rooms, 20no. twin rooms. Building height 2, 3 and 4 storey height, including lower ground level. Pedestrian entrances at Fairview Avenue Lower & Fairview Terrace, vehicle entrance at Fairview Terrace, terraces and open space at lower ground and ground level and ancillary site development works.
The full proposal can be seen on the City Council’s website: reference no. 4544/08 applies. Previous applications for the same site include 4129/05 & 5735/07 - the Residents’ Association is currently appealing the latter application.
The final date to comment on or to appeal this application is 30 October 2008.
