Fairview Residents’ Association aims to maintain and safeguard the interests of the people of the Fairview area in respect of their holdings, improve conditions and general amenities within the community and to build up a community spirit.
The Residents’ Association wants to develop the area in a way that maximises its residential character by protecting and improving the natural man-made and cultural environment in a sensitive and caring way.
We are guided by the Residents’ Association Constitution.
The area catered for by the FRA was expanded at the AGM in 2008 with the addition of the Richmond Road area.

Planning
The Association monitors all planning applications in the area, so to assist in maintaining the character and integrity of houses and businesses in the Fairview district. This includes looking at proposed developments which impact on Fairview, whether they are directly in the area or not. Examples include parking and traffic, the
DPT and public transport.
The biggest area of planning concern at the momont is the proposed development of “independent living units” on a site at the corner of Fairview Avenue Lower & Fairview Terrace. There is more information about this proposal here. An application for an 80 bed nursing home on the same site was submitted in September 2008.
Another area of concern are the multitude of developments in the Richmond Road / Richmond Avenue area. For example we have objected to the proposal to add a storey to the apartment complex on the former Pat O’Donnell site on Richmond Avenue.
Traffic:
Traffic & parking are always an issue for a high density, residential area such as Fairview.
- Proposed one-way system for Inverness Road, Waverley Avenue, Lomond Avenue & Melrose Avenue
- Match day parking
Traffic has been an issue with us for a long time. In 1995, the Association issued a report on Traffic in Fairview, containing detailed analysis and recommendations on the situation. We also commented on the Corporation’s plans for traffic calming in Fairview & Marino.
Other Issues:
Other items considered by the FRA recently include:
