Census records 1911

Much of Fairview and some of Marino’s streets have been around for a long time now. The household returns and ancillary records for the censuses of Ireland of 1901 and 1911, which are in the custody of the National Archives of Ireland, represent an extremely valuable part of the Irish national heritage.

The 1911 Census, taken on 2 April 1911, details are now publically available. The Census forms, filled in and signed by the head of the household, contain such information as: name, age, sex, relationship to head of the household, religion, occupation, marital status, county or country of birth as well as an individual’s ability to read or write and ability to speak the Irish language, and whether deaf, dumb, blind, idiot, imbecile or lunatic.

Below are the streets in the Fairview & Marino area in 1911. Follow the link to find who was living on that street at that time. From there you can find out details of an individual household (as a PDF).

(Thanks to the Irish National Archives for this information.)

Where is/was Broadawel Terrace located? What is its current name? [My Breen ancestors lived at No.9 in 1911]
